It took nearly a week since tying Roger Maris‘ AL single season home run record but with just a couple days left in the MLB regular season, Aaron Judge blasted his 62nd home run and put himself into the record books.
In the top of the first inning against the Texas Rangers, the New York Yankees right fielder led off the game with a solo shot to the left field seats.
It was a long time coming as he was on pace to pass Maris but Judge certainly left it late. But now that it’s done, whatever Judge hits through Wednesday will be a bonus.
Social media praised Judge for hitting 62. Whether they believed that he was the “true home run king” or that he still is behind guys like Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, and Barry Bonds, we can at least agree he did something not many others have ever done.
