On Friday, PGA Tour superstar Tiger Woods met with United States President Donald Trump regarding the possible reunification of professional golf after the rivalry between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf over the past couple of years. And this just adds to the warm relationship that Woods and Trump have had over the years.

Back in 2018, Tiger Woods was asked about his thoughts on Donald Trump during an interview at a golf tournament. During the interview, he made it clear that he respected Trump as the current president of the United States – just as he would any other president.

“Well, he’s the president of the United States. You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office,” Woods said back in 2018.

However, Woods and Trump have a much more personal relationship, as well, which he spoke on a little bit more, revealing that he had known Trump for “a number of years” previously, even before he became president, and had even played golf with him.

“Well, I’ve known Donald for a number of years,” Woods told reporters. “We’ve played golf together. We’ve had dinner together. I’ve known him pre-presidency and obviously during his presidency.”

During his first term in office, Trump awarded Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom – the highest civilian award of the United States.

There have also been other signs that the two have a warm relationship as they have spoken kindly about each other during hard times. Woods admitted that he “didn’t sleep at all” after the attempt on Trump’s life last summer.

“I didn’t accomplish a lot because I wasn’t in the right frame of mind,” Woods said according to the BBC. “It was a long night [because of the assassination attempt] and that’s all we watched the entire time on the way over here.

“I didn’t sleep at all on the flight, and then we just got on the golf course.”

Then, earlier this month, Trump offered his condolences to Woods following the death of his beloved mother.

“I was just informed that Tiger Woods’ wonderful Mother, Kultida, passed away — She has gone onto greener fairways! Kultida Woods was an amazing influence on Tiger, and gave him much of his strength and brilliance. Melania and I send our love and prayers to Tiger and his incredible family!” Trump said on his Truth Social website.

Trump went as far as to play golf with Woods just a few days after the death of his mother.

Given all of their pleasantries over the years, it comes as no surprise that Woods and Trump had another pleasant interaction when he visited the White House on Friday, as well.

“It’s an honor to be here with you, Mr. President,” Woods told Trump as he stood next to him at the podium.

Woods has made it very clear that he has a positive relationship with Trump and it sounds like that’s going to continue into the future.
