Days before the start of the US Open at Pinehurst, Rory McIlroy announced that he and his wife have called off their divorce and plan to work things out.

McIlroy released a statement:

“Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”

Speculation has been for the past few weeks that he was getting cozy with CBS golfer reporter Amanda Balionis after the pair were seen hugging after an interview she did with him at a golf tournament recently.

Now that his divorce has been put off, McIlroy can concentrate on just golf.

The Irish golfer will be paired with No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele in rounds one and two later this week.

The golfer wants to get back to winning.

“I’m really proud of my body of work over the past 15 years and everything that I have achieved, whether it be season-long titles or individual tournaments or majors,” McIlroy said.“Obviously getting my hands on a fifth major has taken quite a while, but I’m more confident than ever that I’m right there, that I’m as close as I’ve ever been.”

It’s been a decade since McIlroy won his last major and maybe with some of his recent issues behind him, he will finally break the drought and win his sixth major.
