PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan has suffered a “medical situation” and is now recovering.
The PGA Tour issued a release Tuesday night on Monahan, saying he informed the board of his unspecified condition, and the board “fully supports Jay and appreciates everyone respecting his privacy.”
While Monahan recovers, PGA Tour Chief Operating Officer Ron Price and Executive Vice President & President Tyler Dennis will supervise operations.
The 53-year-old Monahan, who has been commissioner since January 2017, recently helped broker a controversial merger between the established PGA and the upstart, Saudi-backed LIV Golf. Monahan, who had once vowed such a move would never happen, has come under intense criticism since the merger’s announcement on June 6.
Monahan presided over a “heated” meeting with furious PGA golfers that afternoon, trying to explain his change of heart in reaching the deal.
The golf world reacted with some tasteless jokes, a conspiracy theory or three, and many well-wishes for the commissioner following news of his situation.

You can really see trust in Jay Monahan at an all time high as the world gives exactly zero credence to the suggestion he might be having a real medical situation.
