Golf fans got to see the rare Tiger Woods appearance last week at the Genesis Invitational. And they very well could see his son, Charlie Woods, in a PGA Tour event as soon as next week if all goes to plan for him.
On Wednesday, it was announced by the PGA Tour that Charlie Woods will be competing in Thursday’s pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic, a PGA Tour tournament that will kick off next Thursday.
This is the first step for Woods potentially making his PGA Tour debut. He will need to record a top-25 performance in the pre-qualifier on Thursday to advance to Monday’s qualifier for the Cognizant Classic. From there, only the top 4 finishers in the Monday qualifier will enter the Cognizant Classic field.
On paper, it seems incredibly improbable for Woods to actually make it through the qualifier and into the Cognizant Classic field. But fans are certainly shocked to hear that this is even a possibility considering he is only 15 years of age.
This is awesome. Good for him, no matter the outcome. #PGATOUR #golf

If Woods is able to make it into the field, he would be playing with some of the biggest stars that the PGA Tour has to offer.
The likes of Shane Lowry, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose, and Gary Woodland, all major champions in their own right, have already committed to playing in the tournament.
Tiger Woods’ future in golf certainly appears to be in question considering he has withdrawn from the last three PGA Tour events he has participated in. But with this news emerging about his son, there could be another Woods with a budding golf career on the horizon.
