Golfers around the world are getting ready for the start of the PGA’s second major of the year, the PGA Championship. Several LIV golfers received invitations to play.

The tournament will be played at Valhalla this year and the PGA released the list of golfers who will be participating next week but one name was missing and that’s 2010 British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen.

According to Associated Press reporter Doug Ferguson, Oosthuizen turned down the invite for personal reasons.

“Turns out PGA offered Oosthuizen an invitation. He turned it down because of personal commitments. Not sure what those were.”

Phil Mickelson warned the golf world in a post a few days ago that if the golf rankings don’t start to include LIV golfers, some LIV golfers will not participate in majors.

Right now, Oosthuizen is ranked 107 in the world. Several major golfers on the LIV tour have lost their rankings since joining LIV Golf big names like Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia, aren’t even ranked in the top 100.

Most of it concerns the fact that they no longer participate in PGA events regularly unless it’s a major that has hurt their world rankings. Mickelson has screamed foul over the years about the treatment LIV golfers are receiving but so for the Official World Golf Rankings, aren’t moved and you have to wonder, if Mickelson’s prediction is coming true with The 2010 Open champion missing a PGA major.
