On the surface, it seemed like one bettor was basically setting $60 on fire. The bet was a parlay, requiring two things to happen: Rickie Fowler to win the Honda Classic, and Sergio Garcia to win The Masters.
The first part wasn’t too crazy, as Fowler had 16/1 odds — tied for second-highest odds — to win the Honda Classic. He did just that in February.
But then there’s the Sergio part of the bet. The 37-year-old golfer entered The Masters 0-for-73 in his career at majors, and his odds were set at 40/1 to win this tournament. Well, we of course know how that turned out.
So, to have both of these things happen? That’s pretty damn incredible, and obviously quite lucky. And the massive $41,773 payout for a $60 bet reflects that.

This person must have been losing it down the stretch, like when Sergio missed the putt on 18 for the chance to win before a sudden-death playoff:
Imagine if you were sitting at home watching on TV — or probably at a bar, screaming — and had nearly $42,000 riding on that putt? Of course, a person that has $60 to use on a bet like this is probably doing okay for themselves (and especially now).
