Shortly after the conclusion of the NFC Championship game on Sunday night when the Super Bowl matchups were officially set with the Kansas City Chiefs set to take on the San Francisco 49ers, sportsbooks were quick to release their betting lines for the game. And just a few hours after their opening, those lines have already shifted significantly.
On both the FanDuel and DraftKings sportsbooks on Sunday night, the San Francisco 49ers opened as slight favorites in the Super Bowl with FanDuel listing the Niner as 2.5-point favorites in the game and DraftKings listing San Francisco as 2-point favorites in the game. On both sportsbooks, the game total opened at 47.5 points.
But just a few hours later, the line already shifted a full point in favor of the Chiefs on both sportsbooks.
As of Monday morning, the Niners moved to just 1.5-point favorites on FanDuel and one-point favorites on DraftKings – a pretty significant change for just a few hours.
Obviously, this would seem to indicate that lots of early action was on the Kansas City Chiefs in the game which caused the line to move toward the Chiefs.
It’s safe to say that this line will likely move more before kickoff as it is expected to be the most heavily bet sporting event of the year.
