It’s that time again. When the sleigh bells are ringing, the snow…yeah the snow isn’t happening across the pong in the UK.
Forget snow, though. Because KFC has created a special ‘Christmas Dinner Box’. Consisting of festive fries and a crazy-calorie filled burger.
What’s in the burger? Fried Chicken (no sh*t, Sherlock), Hash browns, stuffing mayo, cheese. Successfully putting an end to any hopes of keeping the winter fat off this Christmas time.
Mirror even mention that KFC is offering a special seasoning for your fries too. Ho ho ho…
It’s not the first time that the fast food giants have special menu items during Christmas. In 2017 and 2018, they offered pretty much the same festive menu – so it’s clearly gone down well across the pond.
Japan forget ramen for 1 month only…for KFC
Anyone that’s been to Japan will know that it’s the food capital of the world for a reason: there is some unreal food to eat there.
Michellin starred ramen that costs around $15 per bowl (and it’s a big bowl), of course, Sushi. And if you don’t like the raw fish, then you’ll be glad to know that there’s a whole kind of cooking that is basically different meats grilled on sticks. LeanBulking.com even mentions ‘Yakitori’ (BBQ’d chicken on sticks) as one of the best foods when you’re watching your weight in Japan!
There’s truly something for everybody in the land of the rising sun.
However, you might not have known that KFC is something some Japanese people enjoy over Christmas. Sounds pretty random, right?
Well, it’s because the Colonel ran some big budget marketing campaigns. Headlined with the slogan “Kentucky is Christmas!” in 1974. Since then, many buckets of KFC’s fried chicken have been sold in Japan over the festive period.
Other different menu options around the world
Japan isn’t the only place where KFC is loved, other than USA & UK.
You might not have known that the Colonel is prominent in countries such as Nigeria and the Philippines too.
In Nigeria, KFC offer some unique menu items such as ‘spicy jollof rice’ as well as other vegetarian options to suit the market.
The Philippines is really where KFC seems to go ‘all out’ and get creative.
For example, they created a one-time special that’s not been seen anywhere else; a cheese-filled hot dog with more cheese on-top, called the ‘Double Down Dog’. It’s also the same country where KFC released the ‘Chizza’ which went viral all over social media – a piece of fried chicken topped with pizza sauce, cheese and pineapple.
Even in Israel, the fried-chicken giants manage to make healthy profits. Mashed state that “Twelve pieces of cold chicken and fries costs $27”. Not bad, Colonel, not bad.
And don’t forget what we’ve been offered in the States. The infamous ‘Cheetos Sandwich’ that was offered in selection locations in North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia (among others).
It’s mainly good news for KFC over the Christmas period. As long as more of their shops don’t suffer the same fate as their franchise in Eden, North Carolina…
