The Big Ten already poached the Pac-12 for two teams, adding the USC Trojans and the UCLA Bruins. And now, it looks like the conference is going back for more, adding the Oregon Ducks and the Washington Huskies.
According to a bombshell report from college football insider Pete Thamel, the Big Ten is expected to formally invite both Oregon and Washington to join the conference after a vote from the conference’s presidents, which is expected to be unanimous.
“Sources: Big Ten expected to move ahead with formal offer letters for Oregon and Washington. A Big Ten vote is expected to take place later today to formalize their admission, barring any last-minute snags,” Thamel said in a tweet on Friday afternoon.
“Sources: While there had been some initial pushback, the Big Ten vote is expected to be unanimous. First signature move of Tony Petitti’s stint as Big Ten commissioner is on the cusp,” Thamel added in a follow-up tweet.
This is obviously insane news in the college football world, and people had plenty to say about it on social media as a result.
