The Ohio State Buckeyes eventually defeated the Maryland Terrapins 37-17 on Saturday, but things looked a bit dicey for Ryan Day’s squad at halftime.
The No. 4 team in the nation found itself tied 10-10 at the half with the Terps, which brought up a lot of ongoing worries and concerns around Day’s program and whether or not it’s built for the long haul.
In fact, Maryland briefly led the game 10-7 in the second quarter. At that moment, the camera panned to former OSU head coach Urban Meyer, who was in attendance for the game. He did not look pleased.
Things turned out fine for the Buckeyes, Day, and Meyer, but the college football world had a field day with the image on social media.
While Meyer has said that he doesn’t want to return to coaching and even recently shot down the rumor that he might be considering the Michigan State job, it’s hard not to imagine that the three-time national champion isn’t frustrated with some of the choices being made on the field for Ohio State.
Meyer also has a vested interest in seeing OSU continue to succeed since he rebuilt the program into a national champion and then handed the keys to Day. Day continues to win games, but not at the level that Buckeyes fans expect.
