It’s not all that often that a wide receiver is in contention for the Heisman Trophy this late in the season, but Ohio State Buckeyes star Marvin Harrison Jr. is decidedly among the candidates. And Ohio State head coach Ryan Day thinks that he should win it.
During his interview session this week, Ryan Day made a very simple argument as to why he believes Marvin Harrison Jr. should win the Heisman Trophy: “he is the most outstanding player in the country.”
“I think I’ve said it before that the Heisman Trophy goes to the most outstanding player in the country,” Day said. “There’s a lot of great players out there. I get to see him everyday – I think he is the most outstanding player in the country.”
Day explained that what makes Harrison so impressive is his work ethic in and out of practice, saying “he wants to be great.”
“He, right from the jump, came in with a work ethic that, really, has transcended throughout the whole team,” Day said. “Just what he has done and, now, the production as well.
“He wants to be great. I know that – you can just tell it. His actions back that up. And, certainly, his production speaks for itself on the field with what he’s doing. He makes everybody on that field better.”
Harrison seems to be among four legitimate contenders for the Heisman Trophy along with Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr., and LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels. He’s got a few more weeks to prove he deserves it.
