As expected, the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes pulled off a blowout win over the unranked Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday night, winning by a lopsided score of 49-10. But that didn’t mean the game was without drama as a fourth-quarter late hit led to a heated exchange between the two teams and head coaches Ryan Day and Greg Schiano.

The altercation came after Ohio State punter Jesse Mirco saw space to run and rushed for a first down instead of punting late in the fourth quarter. As Mirco headed to the sideline, Rutgers safety Aron Cruickshank leveled him with a late hit out of bounds, drawing an ejection and starting a scuffle between the two teams and head coaches.

Despite the wild scene, Day said after the game that he has “no hard feelings” for Schiano after their heated exchange on the sidelines.

“No hard feelings at all. Told him that after the game,” Day said during his postgame press conference according to Griffin Strom of Eleven Warriors. “Have an unbelievable amount of respect for him.”

Day and Schiano have a history together, with each serving as assistants under former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer between the 2016 and 2018 seasons. It’s clear that this argument won’t come in between their relationship.
