The biggest question coming into spring for Alabama was their quarterback situation. And while there have been reports that both Ty Simpson and Jalen Milroe have been making plays, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum is a bit concerned about the current situation down in Tuscaloosa.
Finebaum says he’s heard neither one of them has been impressive so far.
“I’m not crazy about what I’m hearing from (Alabama coach) Nick Saban or anyone else about the quarterback play,” Finebaum said on the “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” on WJOX in Birmingham on Monday.
Nick Saban didn’t seem too worried about either quarterback.
“They both made some good plays, but they also both made some plays that they probably wish they would have had back,” Saban said. “They’re making progress. They’re improving. I think that they’re developing some confidence in the offense and what they’re supposed to read, and what they’re supposed to do.”
But Finebaum is convinced there may be trouble in paradise and that Saban maybe needs to start looking for a starter in the transfer portal.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if the busiest man in the portal right now is Nick Saban looking for a quarterback,” he said.
We will see if Finebaum may be on to something as the Crimson Tide prepares for its annual A-Day game this coming Saturday.
