Even before coaching his first game in the Pac-12, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has made a huge impact on the conference.
You could say he’s been like a rock star.
At least that’s what Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff says. He compared Sanders to two of the biggest music stars today, Beyonce and Taylor Swift.
“I think if Beyonce or Taylor Swift decided to coach, they might glean the kind of media coverage we’re getting from Deion,” he said during Pac-12 Media Day.
Sanders has been the talk of the Pac-12 and college football since arriving in Boulder. His personality and his tactics have drawn attention, not only from coaches around the country but also from within his own conference.
Kliavkoff seems to be grateful for the impact Sanders is having on the conference.
“Our ratings are going to be up this year because of Coach Prime,” Kliavkoff said. “He’s great for the league. He’s great for Colorado. You can see from where the team was last year to where they are this year.”
The Pac-12 could use some positive news considering that the conference’s two biggest schools in their largest market, USC and UCLA, are bolting to the Big Ten conference soon.
Deion Sanders may be just what the doctor ordered.
