Early National Signing Day came and went, and the Ohio State Buckeyes were once again winners.
The Buckeyes netted a top-five consensus rated class. That’s good news for any program, but Ohio State could have climbed higher if they hadn’t lost numerous blue-chip recruits to everybody from Alabama to Oregon.
But Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day, speaking after signing his latest recruiting, said he won’t be leveling any accusations against the behind-the-scenes tampering that has gone on since the induction of Name, Image and Likeness laws across the country.
“I just think it’s just not a road that I certainly want to go down. I just don’t think there’s any benefit to it,” said Day. “So what do we do? We just focus on the guys that we signed.”
“There’s a lot of hearsay out there, a lot of people talking about all kinds of different things. That can be frustrating. But we’re just going to focus on our guys right now and just focus on this team.”
Day and the No. 4 Buckeyes are currently preparing for their latest College Football Playoff appearance. The Bucks made it in again despite not winning the Big Ten Championship. A New Year’s Eve showdown with the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs awaits OSU in the upcoming Peach Bowl. Oddsmakers list the Bulldogs as seven-point favorites entering the massive showdown.
