The Ohio State Buckeyes will look to repeat as national champions this coming season. But with just over a month until the start of the 2025 season, the program still has questions to be answered in regards to who will be the starting quarterback in 2025.

Currently, it appears to be a two-man competition to determine who will ultimately be the starting quarterback in Columbus. Lincoln Kienholz, who has been at Ohio State since 2023, and Julian Sayin, who has been with the program since 2024.

While most Ohio State fans have been assuming that Sayin will be the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day recently said that is anything but a sure bet.

According to Ohio State beat writer Dan Hope, Day declared on Tuesday that the quarterback competition is still
“neck-and-neck”. The two will be put through “as many competitive situations” as possible during preseason camp to determine who is the opening day starter.

Naturally, this news was quite a shock to Ohio State fans, who took to social media and raised concerns that there still isn’t a clear starter with such little time until the start of the season.

Whoever ultimately is named the opening day starter for the Buckeyes will not be getting an easy matchup in their season-opening game, as they will take on the Texas Longhorns, who have a clear starter at the quarterback position in Arch Manning.
