North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick, who won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, was everywhere in the media in 2024. Now, as Belichick gears up for his first season in charge of the Tar Heels, it’s as if he’s nowhere to be seen.
Since taking the North Carolina job, Belichick has largely receded from the limelight, especially after a flurry of negative headlines centered on his romantic relationship with the much younger Jordon Hudson.
That trend is set to continue, per Awful Announcing. Belichick will make only one appearance on the University of North Carolina coach’s show before the season begins.
Following that, it will be up to Belichick’s general manager and unofficial personal spokesperson, Michael Lombardi, to do the job.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Bill will be a one season coach. This kinda stuff doesn’t fly in college,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Yeah. He’s not dealing w alumni questioning him every week,” someone else added.
“How you think he’s dealing w alumni after losing 23-20 to Wake?” someone else wanted to know.
It’s not totally surprising Belichick isn’t looking to participate. Coach’s shows can be rough waters at times for college coaches, and if the Tar Heels aren’t having the sort of season Belichick is hoping for in year one, it’s unlikely he’ll want to do a radio show every week.
