New ESPN college football commentator and former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban just made a new enemy on Monday at SEC Media Days.
When asked about the Texas Longhorns and how they fit in the SEC, Saban said “They’re not gonna run the SEC.”
“You know what kinda tickles me are how people always ask how Texas ran the conference they were in, they are not going to run the SEC they can forget all about that,” he said “That’s not going to be a problem.”
Saban continued to say they will be a good team and Steve Sarkisian will do a great job, but as he pointed out, it will be hard to dominate in the SEC.
Alabama’s only loss in the regular season last year was to the Longhorns, who played in the College Football Playoff against current Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, who was then the head coach of the Washington Huskies. DeBoer and the Huskies defeated the Longhorns in the playoff, 37-31.
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers recently said Texas would be everyone’s biggest SEC game this season, a comment that most SEC fans laughed at considering the Longhorns haven’t won a national championship in decades.
Still, Saban’s comments won’t sit well with Longhorn fans.
