In his weekly Monday press conference. Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced who his starting QB will be this weekend against Ole Miss and to no one’s surprise, they are going back to Jalen Milroe.
“From a quarterback standpoint is all I’m going to say about this,” Saban stated. “Jalen really showed the leadership I was looking for during the game in supporting his teammates and doing the things he needed to do. He has had the opportunity to play, so have the other guys, Jalen played the best of all those guys so I think he’s earned the opportunity to be the quarterback.”
After the dismal play of both Tyler Buchner and Ty Simpson against South Florida on Saturday, there was little doubt that Milroe would get his starting role back.
Neither Simpson nor Buchner moved the football well although Simpson played slightly better than Buchner and was able to lead Alabama on two scoring drives, but the pair combined for 106 passing yards and zero touchdowns
Another issue Alabama had was on the offensive line who gave up four sacks. Milroe gives the Tide a better chance of winning because of his mobility and his arm strength which was on display in the Middle Tennessee State game and in the loss to Texas.
If Alabama wants to have any chance against Ole Miss, Milroe gives them their best shot.
