The Michigan Wolverines are currently in the midst of investigations from both the Big Ten and the NCAA into allegations that Michigan illegally stole signs from future opponents, and Michigan State interim head coach Harlon Barnett had a a little bit of fun with reporters when asked about the allegations against his team’s in-state rival this week.
During a press conference this week, Harlon Barnett was asked what he thinks about the Big Ten’s potential response to the allegations against the Michigan Wolverines football program and Jim Harbaugh. And at first, he turned the tables on the reporter a little bit.
“What do you think?” Barnett said to the reporter according to On3.
After a bit of an awkward silence, Barnett broke the silence with a laugh.
“I’m teasing,” Barnett said according to On3. “I’m thinking like most people in this room. I’m hopefully thinking. I’ll leave it at that.”
While the NCAA investigation into the matter is not yet complete and won’t be complete until well after the 2023 college football season, the Big Ten could potentially choose to levy punishment on Michigan before the NCAA under the league’s sportsmanship policy. If the conference does that, however, it’s likely Michigan will respond with legal action.
