The Michigan Wolverines football team made news on Friday, as Jim Harbaugh’s program earned a huge commitment from a top prospect in the 2024 recruiting class
Providence Day School (Charlotte, N.C.) five-star Jadyn Davis — the No. 2 quarterback in the 2024 class — announced his verbal commitment to Michigan over a group of finalists, which included Ohio State, among other top-tier Power Five programs. Davis, who has been one of the most sought-after high school prospects over the past two years, but the 6-foot-1, 200-pound signal-caller finally came to a decision on Friday, which he detailed with ESPN.
“I had a lot of schools that were heavily recruiting me and I’m a big relationship guy, so it was hard to narrow that list down and tell people no, but I prayed on it and asked for guidance,” Davis said via ESPN. “I asked for signs and all the signs pointed to Michigan, and I’m happy with my decision. I’m ready to get there to work and earn the starting job and lead them to a national championship.”
Davis gives the Wolverines their highest-ranked quarterback commitment since J.J. McCarthy pledged to the Big Ten School in 2019. McCarthy was ranked as the No. 5 quarterback and the No. 25 overall prospect in the nation at the time of his commitment, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
The college football world was buzzing over the huge Michigan news.
Remember there was talk about how Jim Harbaugh couldn't get a QB recruit? He's went from Cade McNamara (wins Big 10/makes playoff) to JJ McCarthy (wins Big 10/makes playoff) to a 5 star Jadyn Davis they never would have got a few years ago. #Michigan is loaded. https://t.co/72UALse4ym

HUGE pickup by Michigan. Jadyn Davis chose the Wolverines over many top programs, most notably Ohio State. https://t.co/m7434aADWC

Incredible feeling to know we don’t have to wait for Jadyn Davis to pull Michigan out of the dark ages in 2-3 years. We’re coming off back-to-back B1G titles/CFP appearances. This is how recruiting is supposed to go and now it’s happening.
