The Michigan Wolverines college football team won the National Championship this past month. But since Jim Harbaugh decided to depart for the Los Angeles Chargers, the Wolverines had to pivot. Michigan decided to tab Sherrone Moore as their next head coach after a spirited interim run this season and several years spent under Harbaugh. Count men’s basketball coach Juwan Howard among those supporting the new hire.

Howard, a former Wolverine great among the famed “Fab Five,” commented on Moore’s appointment as the new football coach over the weekend.

Initially, Juwan joked about Moore, whose voice was heard during the Michigan-Iowa men’s basketball game this past week. “At a timeout, I think I heard his voice, and the crowd got really excited and loud. Then I had to speak even louder in the huddle because I thought my team didn’t hear me. I’m really disappointed in Sherrone because now I’m really hoarse now,” Howard joked via On3. “Because with the excitement which he brought, which is great, that caused me to feel a little sick.”

Howard signaled that he was joking and then proceeded on.

“But on a serious note, I am so happy for Sherrone and I’m going to be his biggest supporter like I was before when he was the offensive line coach. Then he got the promotion as being our offensive coordinator,” Howard said.

It sounds like everybody in Ann Arbor is on the same side.
