The Georgia Bulldogs played a tough game against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the semifinal matchup of the College Football Playoff only prevailing after what would have been a game-winning field goal for Ohio State sailed wide left. But the Bulldogs didn’t face anywhere near the same challenge in Monday night’s national title game when they blasted the TCU Horned Frogs by a score of 65-7. And during the game, some Georgia players revealed why beating Ohio State was so difficult, but facing TCU was easy.
During the game, former Rivals recruiting reporter Carson Macrae heard the Georgia sideline pointing out that TCU didn’t have a star player like Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
“Yelling coming from the Georgia sideline after the fumble ‘They ain’t got no Marvin Harrison,'” Macrae said in a Tweet.
Harrison dominated the Bulldogs for much of the game, especially in the first half. He had five catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns, all of which came during the game’s first two quarters. Even when he wasn’t catching passes himself, his presence on the field drew the attention of the Georgia defense and opened things up for other members of the offense.
Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, Marvin Harrison Jr. went down with an injury in the fourth quarter and Ohio State did not look the same on offense after his departure.
But it’s clear that the Georgia players respected his dominance.
