There have been some excellent plays thus far this college football season, but Saturday’s game between the Liberty Flames and the Old Dominion Monarchs produced potentially the best catch of the season to this point.

The Liberty Flames got things off to an extremely hot start in the game offensively, driving down the field before the highlight-reel catch from Flames wide receiver Jaivian Lofton.

Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter threw the ball up to Lofton, who miraculously came down with it with one hand for a touchdown while shielding off Old Dominion cornerback Tobias Harris with his other free hand.

This awesome resulted in an early 7-0 lead for the Flames in an extremely impressive fashion.

The degree of difficulty on this catch is extremely impressive, which led many to praise Lofton for his catch-of-the-year candidate on Saturday.

Lofton has not been too involved in the team’s offense thus far in his three-year career at Liberty.

The junior wide receiver has just over 100 yards combined in the past two seasons with the program in limited action over his career.

This catch clearly shows that he has loads of potential if given the opportunity, and he certainly capitalized on that with this amazing catch on Saturday.
