Former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord has had a number of interested teams in bringing him in after entering the transfer portal earlier this month. He has finally made his decision on where he will ultimately go, and it may not be where most would have expected.
A number of teams appeared to be in the mix to land McCord. But he reportedly plans to join an ACC team in desperate need of a quarterback.
According to Brent Axe of Syracuse.com, McCord will be committing to play for the Syracuse Orange, and an official announcement from him could reportedly come as soon as Sunday.

On paper, it is a bit of a surprising decision from McCord. Going from a national powerhouse like Ohio State to a team like Syracuse is certainly a pretty big difference.
However, it is a fit that makes perfect sense when you consider what Syracuse needs to become a contender in the ACC. They ranked dead last in the conference in passing yards per game.
McCord fills a direct need in helping this struggling passing game. He ranked behind only Taulia Tagovailoa in the Big Ten in passing yards this season for the Buckeyes.
New Syracuse head coach Fran Brown deserves a ton of credit for landing McCord, and it seems like his ability to recruit elite talent at Georgia has certainly translated to his new job at Syracuse.
There is still more work to be done by Brown in order to make Syracuse a true contender. But it is certainly a great start for him to bring in a quarterback like McCord as he looks to rebuild this once-great football program.
