The first-ever offseason spin-off of the HBO hit show Hard Knocks has shown a detailed look into the New York Giants, including the team’s pre-draft process. On episode two of the series that premiered on Tuesday night, former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord caught a stray during the Giants’ pre-draft meeting with Marvin Harrison Jr.

The episode featured a meeting between Harrison and Giants wide-receiver coach Mike Groh where the two watched game film of Harrison at Ohio State, particularly looking at a poor throw from McCord during the 2023 season.

It seemed like Groh was attempting to see if Harrison Jr. would throw his quarterback under the bus for the throw, roasting McCord in the process.

“So you played with one of the best quarterbacks for a few years,” Groh said of former Ohio State star C.J. Stroud. “Now you got a young guy who is growing in the position. You beat a guy like this and have a chance at a touchdown and he underthrows it. What do you come back to the huddle saying to him?”

“Oh I don’t say nothing to the quarterbacks,” said Harrison Jr.

“No? I mean, That’s a s*** throw right?” Groh responded.

To Harrison’s credit, he didn’t throw his former quarterback under the bus.

“I mean, I can make a play. I can make a play still. I’ll never say anything to the quarterback. I blame it on myself because I’m supposed to make a play.”

Again, it didn’t seem like Groh was really trying to criticize McCord, instead trying to get Harrison Jr. to make a mistake and throw his teammate under the bus.

But still, things didn’t exactly age all the well for McCord in comparison to where Harrison Jr. currently is. McCord was essentially forced to transfer after the 2023 season, opting to join the Syracuse Orange for the upcoming 2024 season.

Meanwhile, Harrison Jr. ended up getting selected with the No. 4 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, two picks before the Giants selection at No. 6.

McCord will have a chance to prove Groh wrong about him this coming season in the ACC. But publicly catching a stray on national television sure won’t help his confidence as he goes into his senior year.
