The Kentucky Wildcats are coming off a huge victory against the Florida Gators last week, vaulting the Wildcats into the top ten in the latest AP Poll, but the program may be shorthanded in the coming weeks after some shocking reports have emerged about numerous players.
According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, the University investigated numerous players working at an on-campus UK HealthCare hospital this spring for filing inaccurate timecards.
The players involved in this investigation have not been named, but Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops previously discussed the situation, saying that those involved will be suspended by the University for multiple games.
“A few of them will have multiple-game suspensions, but I don’t know how long,” said Stoops.
Jon Hale of the Lexington Herald-Leader reported on Saturday that documents that emerged about the situation revealed that Kentucky’s Athletic Department was not aware of these inaccurate timecards before the investigation took place.
It’s unclear exactly when these suspensions would be handed out by Kentucky, but this is obviously concerning for a Kentucky team that has high hopes of potentially making a run at the SEC Championship this season.
Led by star quarterback Will Levis, the program has proved thus far this season that they are far more than just a “basketball school”, which Kentucky Wildcats basketball coach John Calipari previously called the school.
Kentucky is set for a couple of big SEC games in the coming weeks, so these potential suspensions loom large for the program as they move forward with the rest of their season, especially if any key players are involved in this situation.
