This time last year, Kedon Slovis announced that he was transferring from USC to Pitt. One season later, Slovis is on the move again, announcing Monday that he was entering the transfer portal once more.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, who broke the news, Slovis has one year of eligibility left.
Slovis played three seasons at USC before transferring to Pitt, where he threw for 10 touchdowns, nine interceptions, and 2,397 yards, leading the Panthers to an 8-4 record. Altogether, Slovis has thrown for 9,973 passing yards and 68 touchdowns over four years.
Per Thamel, Slovis will not play in the Sun Bowl for Pitt. Slovis never quite gelled at Pitt in the year after Kenny Pickett and it seemed like the writing was on the wall for some time that his departure was inevitable.
“I’m thankful to Coach Narduzzi and Coach Cignetti and the University of Pittsburgh for allowing me the opportunity to come home and compete,” Jurkovec told ESPN on Monday.
Slovis’ likely replacement is already known as Boston College’s Phil Jurkovec also announced Monday that he was going to transfer to Pitt.
Many people have said that Missouri is a likely landing spot for Slovis, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet. In the meantime, there were certainly lots of interesting thoughts on Slovis’s brief time with and departure from Pitt.
I wish Kedon Slovis the best. Intuitively speaking, he never felt like the right fit at #Pitt. It felt like we were ready to run a marathon and opted to wear dress shoes instead of cushioned running shoes.
