The spring transfer portal is getting to a word start with news that former Alabama Crimson Tide offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor who transferred from the Iowa Hawkeyes to Alabama last year and then back to Iowa earlier this year, is going back to Tuscaloosa.
Proctor started 13 games at left tackle as a true freshman, earning All-SEC Freshman Team honors. Proctor decided to leave Alabama after Nick Saban retired in January, but, once again, he has changed his mind.
Proctor had said back in January when he transferred that he indeed was contacted by Iowa before the transfer window was open, which is an NCAA violation.
Iowa later self-reported the incident. Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy explained why going back to Iowa might have been a good idea for Proctor.
“I do think that this style is going to be beneficial for Kadyn Proctor,” said McElroy, H/T Steve Samra, On3 Sports. “We don’t know what Iowa’s offense is going to look like right now. But I do think a ground & pound where he can use his size, use his physicality will be more more beneficial than being on an island like he was at times for the Crimson Tide.”
College football fans were shocked by this development.
New Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer has hit the recruiting trail hard, who knew he’d hit it this hard? And if the rumors are true, this is just the beginning of some wild comings and goings in the world of the college football transfer portal.
