Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a gruesome injury late in the first quarter of Saturday night’s game against North Alabama.
The undefeated and No. 4 ranked Seminoles unexpectedly fell behind the Lions 13-0 in the first quarter. Travis took off on a quarterback run and picked up a first down. Right around midfield, a North Alabama defender grabbed him from behind. As Travis was trying to free himself, he was hit by another defender. When the television cameras got a clear shot of his leg, it was noticeably clear that something was wrong.
Both teams gathered around the injured quarterback immediately before Travis was carted off of the field.
Note: Anyone who wishes to see the injury can do so here (H/T Mr Matthew CFB on Twitter/X) but be warned, it’s graphic.
Former Florida State and current New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston was at Saturday’s game and sent a positive message to Travis.
Others in the college football world sent their best wishes to Travis after the injury, as well.
Travis originally went to Louisville but transferred to Florida State after his freshman season. Prior to Saturday’s game, Travis had completed 64.1% of his passes for 2,735 yards with 20 touchdown passes and two interceptions on the season. He added 160 rushing yards with seven touchdowns.
