While Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh continues to serve his three-game suspension and won’t be on the sidelines for the Wolverines’ upcoming game against Bowling Green, that hasn’t stopped Harbaugh from being trash-talked by a very unlikely source: His father, Jack.

Speaking with Detroit’s WXYZ-TV, Harbaugh detailed the razzing he has been receiving, saying via On3 Sports, “It’s begun. It was a couple of weeks ago. I mean, it’s, ‘Bowling Green’s coming. The Falcons are coming. And they’re going to kick your butts,’” Jim Harbaugh said. “So he’s getting us ready.”

Jack Harbaugh played for Bowling Green from 1957-60 and was a three-time letterman. The Buffalo Bills selected him in the 1961 AFL Draft but chose to go into coaching instead.

Despite the jokes, Jim Harbaugh is taking Bowling Green seriously. The ninth-year head coach praised the Falcons’ offense, saying, “The offense – their throw game is tremendous. I think there are some things that we can glean from it. Done a really nice job in the running game, too. Very similar to our offense. Hopefully that’s an advantage for our defense. They’re going to see a lot of the same kinds of concepts and gap schemes in their running game. But it’s well coordinated, well called. Scot’s a great coach, and we know we’re going to get their very best.”

Harbaugh will make his season debut on the sidelines on September 23 when Michigan faces off with Rutgers.
