The Iowa Hawkeyes football team came into Saturday’s game against the Nevada Wolfpack with one touchdown to their credit on the season so far. They also added a second and third touchdown early on in that game before weather delays kept pushing it back. And pushing it back. And pushing it back.
Eventually, there were more weather delays than touchdowns that Iowa’s offense has scored all season to this point. And, well, you see where this is going…
How long before Iowa has more lightning delay stoppages than touchdowns?

To be fair, there were other jokes about Iowa’s offensive ineptitude as well.
Iowa scored multiple touchdowns in a game and then Mother Nature was like…. https://t.co/hSnnsOue0r

Hey, you can’t say Kirk and Brian Ferentz haven’t brought this on themselves.
It’s a bit surprising Saturday’s game is even still happening. Iowa cruised to a 17-0 lead at halftime before the weather turned on them and the game entered its first delay. Initially, it looked like play might resume around 10:00 p.m. local time.
And then the lightning kicked up once more and delay No. 2 began.
The teams then returned to the field at midnight and attempted to start play again, only for that to be cut short by more lightning.

Will Iowa get more chances to score offensive touchdowns or is god trying to save Hawkeyes fans from having to watch their red zone offense stumble their way into another field goal? Only time will tell. Until then, keep the jokes coming…
