The struggles of the Iowa Hawkeyes offense have been heavily publicized this season, and things did not get easier in their matchup on Saturday against the No. 2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes.
Iowa quarterback Spencer Petras threw a brutal interception on the first play of the game, throwing it right to Ohio State safety Tanner McCalister for an easy turnover for the Ohio State defense.
Iowa had over two weeks to prepare for the matchup against Ohio State, and this was certainly not the start that they were hoping for.
Many took to social media after this horrendous mistake by Iowa to express just how bad their offense continues to look.

Iowa’s offense ranked dead last in the FBS in yards-per-game entering the game, and it doesn’t look like any progress is happening on that front.
Through one-quarter of football for Iowa, the team only has 12 yards of offense, none coming through the passing game. The fact that they are 3-3 on the year speaks to just how elite the team’s defense truly is considering how awful their offense has looked.
While there are obviously a ton of factors as to why Iowa’s offense has been so awful, it is unclear why there hasn’t been a change at quarterback this year.
Things cannot get any worse for their offense, so refusing to make a change at quarterback to try and improve things appears to be a very questionable decision from Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz.
