Fox Sports broadcaster Gus Johnson had seen enough of Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback Jeff Sims in the first half Saturday.

After the Cornhuskers got whistled for a delay of game late in the second quarter, Johnson noted that Sims might be better off on the bench, given his ineffectiveness, not to mention his poor performance in the opener against Minnesota (114 yards passing, three interceptions).

“I don’t know, (Nebraska coach) Matt Rhule may have to find somebody else to play quarterback for him, because Sims is costing his team games,” Johnson said. “Cost them last week with the turnovers, and this week as well when it comes to a defense that’s playing excellent football.”

Literally seconds later, Sims rolled out, threw a pass … and got it picked off by Buffaloes safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig.

Johnson came under fire on social media last weekend after a couple of mistakes while calling the Colorado-TCU game, but that was a good read about Sims on his part Saturday.

To his credit, Johnson did not respond to his prediction with, “I told you so,” although he would have been justified. College football fans were more than willing, however, to give him props for his Nostradamus act.
