Look, if your name is Dude Person, people are going to have some fun with that and you might as well get on board. That appears to be the case for the aforementioned college football recruit, who made his school announcement on Tuesday.
Person, a 2023 safety recruit, announced that he will play for the Central Arkansas Bears.
According to Hudl, Dude was playing for Northwest Mississippi Community College this past season. The 5’11”, 195-pound defensive back, whose real first name is Rontavious, is originally from Oxford, MS.
Person’s commitment comes on the heels of Rowdy Beers announcing his commitment, so it’s been quite a couple of days for great names in college football.
Naturally, the college football world had a field day with Dude Person’s announcement. Some noted that his name sounds like a randomly generated character in a video game while others marveled at the Person/Beers dual commitments.
“We got ROWDY BEERS and DUDE PERSON on the same day,” said The Athletic’s Chris Vannini.
“What a 24 hours for names. Rowdy Beers and Dude Person. The name economy is THRIVING,” said CBS Sports’ Tom Fornelli.
“need UCA to schedule FIU so Dude Person can tackle Rowdy Beers and college football’s prophecy can be fulfilled,” said Mike Golic, Jr.
Keep an eye out for the next amazingly named recruit. Maybe there’s a Guy Gal or Human Being in our future. Who knows!
