The Ohio State Buckeyes defense has been the team’s downfall four of the past five college football seasons, but it looked dominant on Saturday afternoon, holding the Indiana Hoosiers to just three points. But Ohio State star corner Denzel Burke thinks they could have done even better.

After the game, Denzel Burke was asked if he felt the defense had accomplished its mission with a dominant performance against the Hoosiers. And he had a pretty surprising response.

“No,” Burke said, according to Eleven Warriors. “We wanted to hold them to zero (points), honestly. Three’s too much for us. We want to be a dominant defense. We want to be a dominant force. We want to bring the Silver Bullets back.”

But after that performance, Burke has some bold thoughts on what he thinks this defense can accomplish this season.

“I feel like our defense could be the No. 1 in the nation. We just got to take care of the little things and really be disciplined, have good eye control and D-line do their thing up front,” Burke said.

We’ll have to see whether or not Burke and the Buckeye defense can continue to dominate throughout the 2023 college football season.
