A week after having an altercation with Alabama State head coach Eddie Robinson Jr., Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders made more headlines this week for trying to embarrass a team reporter trying to interview him.
Sanders felt as if Rob Jay (Jackson State Assistant Athletic Director for Broadcasting and Video Services) wasn’t being real with him, and he called Jay out on it.
When Sanders felt Jay was his normal self, Sanders resumed the interview with the comment “much better.”
Sanders has gotten on reporters before in the past for referring to him as Deion rather than Coach Prime or Coach Sanders.
In fact, last year, Sanders walked out of an media session because he felt as if he was being disrespected.
Sanders told a reporter in 2021, “You don’t call Nick Saban ‘Nick.’ Don’t call me ‘Deion.” The reporter in question said he did address Nick Saban as Nick and Saban had no problem with it, to which Sanders responded, “That’s a lie. If you call Nick ‘Nick’ you know you get cussed out on the spot.”
Some fans had no problem with what Sanders did, while others thought it was a bit too much.
