After Colorado two-way player Travis Hunter was injured on a late hit by Colorado State’s Henry Blackburn, social media was calling for Blackburn to be ejected from the game.
When he wasn’t ejected and it was announced Hunter would miss multiple games, things got even worse, with fans suggesting Blackburn be held out for as long as Hunter’s injury lasted.
Some took things even further, making threats against Blackburn and his family.
On Tuesday, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders addressed the incident in the hopes of putting it in the past once and for all, saying, “Henry Blackburn is a good player who played a phenomenal game. This is still a young man trying to make it in life. He does not deserve a death threat over a game. I forgive him. Our team forgives him. Travis Hunter has forgiven him. Let’s move on. That kid does not deserve that.”
Hunter also addressed the incident on his Twitch channel Monday, where he said, I just gotta get up and fight again. Good thing the doctors stopped me ’cause if there were no doctors there I’d still be out there playing.”
Colorado would go on to defeat their in-state rival, 43-35 in overtime even without Hunter. They will head to Eugene to face the Oregon Ducks this Saturday. Unfortunately, Hunter will likely not be available for the next couple of games due to injuries suffered on the hit.
