Colorado head coach Deion Sanders hasn’t found a camera he hasn’t liked yet, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that he decided to film himself discussing sexual harassment and relationship issues with his team in a particularly cringe-worthy way.
In the video, Sanders asks all of the women who work on the football staff to come up in front of the team, saying “one thing I don’t condone is disrespect of a woman and calling a woman out of her name.”
“So when you pass by these beautiful young women, I don’t know if they grace you to call them by their name or their title, but you find out. To not be mistaken, I would say ma’am…be courteous, be gracious, and be polite.”
Sanders also said if any of his players are involved in an abusive situation with women, they should not call him or his staff because they will be done with them.
“We going to respect our women wholeheartedly,” Sanders concluded.
The issue here isn’t Sanders’ words but his presentation. Having the female members of the Buffaloes staff just stand there during his talk is just awkward, not to mention the fact that he got someone to film it to be shared publicly. Sanders may have felt in that moment he was doing the right thing, but the way he did it was a bit cringe-worthy.
One fan commented, “This is weird. This shouldn’t need to be taught.”
Another fan said, “Maybe recruit those that you do not need to tell this [to].”
“This is [an] absolute clown show,” said Athens Steve.
Amongst the strong reactions to Sanders’ video were those who saw nothing wrong with what he said, though they questioned why he had to film it.
“Love the message, but why is everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) this staff is doing being filmed and put on social media?” asked one fan.

The gesture is certainly something that’s good to share, but one has to wonder if the message was the point or if people seeing Deion saying the message was the actual point.
