Things got a little testy between Florida State alums Deion Sanders and Danny Kanell. The issue started when the Colorado Buffaloes head coach claimed not to be an FSU alum but a Talladega College alum (which he is) and Kanell took issue with that.
“Why do you keep calling me that instead of where I graduated from,” Sanders told a reporter Tuesday. “I’m an HBCU grad.”
Although Sanders did play at FSU, he got his degree from Talladega College in Alabama. Kanell thought Sanders was being a bit ungrateful toward the school that gave him his shot.
“Wow,” Kanell said. “The lack of respect for the school that gave him his start is wild. The same school that retired his jersey. The same school that let him be ‘Prime.’ There is a way to handle this question and this ain’t it.”
To which Sanders replied “Stay out of Grown folks business u have no idea what is what. The Truth hurts my man. I got time!”
Surprisingly, Kanell was gracious in his remarks after Sanders’ clap back.
“Prime you weren’t just a Dogg you might have been the greatest Seminole ever. Am I allowed to call you that? It’s all good tho. The fact you got your degree is a great example to young athletes everywhere. Wish you the best at CU because I like to see Noles succeed,” Kanell said.
Sanders replied later “Much love.”
So all seems to be well between the pair and they have kissed and made up.
