There is truly no love lost between the Colorado State Rams and the Colorado Buffaloes, and especially between their coaches, Jay Norvell and Deion Sanders.

Following last season’s 43-35 Buffs victory in double overtime, the Rams will have revenge on their minds when the 2024 edition of their rivalry game takes place on September 14 in Fort Collins, Colorado.

“It’s personal,” Novell said at Mountain West Media Day. “I don’t have any feelings for Deion Sanders, I really don’t. I don’t think about Deion Sanders unless you guys ask me a question about him.”

Before last year’s game, Norvell started in on Sanders, taking a shot at the Colorado coach’s attire.

“I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, I took my hat off and I took my glasses off. I said when I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat off and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me. (Colorado’s) not going to like us no matter what we do or say,” said Norvell last year.

After Colorado’s comeback win over CSU, things got testy in the postgame handshake when Sanders reportedly said “You was talking about my mama, dawg.” Sanders son and Colorado quarterback, Shedeur, had to de-escalate the situation between the two.

Let’s hope that the animosity brings out another exciting game this season.
