As the “Coach Prime” era at Colorado enters its third week, the stars are descending upon Boulder for the Buffaloes’ rivalry game against Colorado State.
And among those in attendance will reportedly be 5-star quarterback recruit Bryce Underwood, the top-ranked signal-caller and No. 4 overall prospect in the 2025 class.
A native of Belleville, Michigan, Underwood was originally set to visit Colorado on Sept. 30, when head coach Deion Sanders’ team will face USC. Instead, Underwood will make his visit this coming weekend for what has quickly become the most highly anticipated game on the Week 3 slate.
“Last-minute decision,” Underwood’s father Jaquan told 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong regarding the change in plans.
As if Sanders’ surprising 2-0 start as Colorado’s head coach wasn’t enough, this weekend’s Rocky Mountain Showdown is getting even more attention after Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell took unprompted shots at the Hall of Fame cornerback this week.
“We’re excited, we had to do a bunch of ESPN videos and it’s great. I loved it. But our kids came out of those videos really with a chip on their shoulder. They’re tired of all that stuff,” Norvell said on his coach’s show Wednesday. “They really are tired of it. And I sat down with ESPN today, and I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, ‘I took my hat off, and I took my glasses off.’ And I said, ‘When I talk to grown-ups, I take my hat and my glasses off.’ That’s what my mother taught me.”
On Thursday, Sanders responded to Norvell’s comments, saying that the rival coach just made the game “personal.”
As for Underwood, the standout signal-caller is also weighing recruiting pitches from Alabama, LSU and Michigan.
