This week, fans of both the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines are anxiously awaiting an injury update from star Michigan running back Blake Corum after he suffered a scary knee injury during the team’s narrow win over Illinois this weekend. And while an official decision on Corum’s status is unlikely to come until just before the start of Saturday’s game, one Michigan player appeared to accidentally give a massive update on Corum’s status.
During team interviews on Monday, Michigan offensive tackle Ryan Hayes appeared to slip up and potentially reveal Corum’s status for this week’s massive rivalry game against the Buckeyes.
“We’ve planned for this,” Hayes said, according to Griffin Strom of Eleven Warriors. “He’s a great player, but I think everybody else is just gonna step up with him out, and I think we’re up to the challenge.”
While it may have just been a simple slip of the tongue that doesn’t actually reveal anything about the status of Blake Corum, the college football world still had plenty to say about it.
Corum is by far Michigan’s most important player this season. If he’s not able to play in this week’s top-3 matchup with the Buckeyes, that would obviously be a huge blow for the Wolverines.
