After announcing his intentions to return to the University of Michigan for another season, All-American running back Blake Corum had some disappointing news to share.
Corum reported that his camouflage-wrapped 2017 Camaro was stolen in Ann Arbor earlier this month. The car, which was a high school graduation gift from his parents, was stolen from a parking garage between Jan. 13 and Jan. 16, reports ESPN via Ann Arbor Police Department records.
He took to Twitter on Tuesday to set the record straight about his prized, stolen vehicle.
“Wasn’t NIL funded, my parents used their hard earned money to bless me with something nice after I graduated high school,” Corum wrote in a tweet. “God bless whoever stole it.”
Before he suffered a brutal knee injury during the Wolverine’s game against the Illinois Fighting Illini late in the season, Corum was a real Heisman Trophy contender. He was sidelined for the season after running for 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2022.
The knee injury played a big part in his decision to stay in school, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. Breer reported that Corum’s knee surgery was actually a full meniscus repair and the six-month recovery from surgery would’ve sidelined him for the duration of the NFL Draft process.
