This week, Alabama Crimson Tide star Brandon Miller faced quite a bit of controversy after it was revealed in court documents that he brought a gun to ex-teammate Darius Miles that was allegedly used to kill 23-year-old Jamea Harris, and it’s safe to say that he made that situation quite a bit worse for himself in the moments leading up to his most recent game.
Despite the controversy, Brandon Miller has remained in Alabama’s starting lineup. And as he was introduced ahead of Saturday afternoon’s game against the Arkansas Razorbacks, he participated in quite a tone-deaf introduction routine with one of his teammates.
As Miller’s name was announced ahead of warmups, he high-fived his teammates as he made his way onto the court. As he got to the end of the line, a teammate waited for him and gave him a pretend police pat down, appearing to check him for weapons.
After the game, Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats addressed the controversial scene, saying it “will not happen again.”
“Regardless, it’s not appropriate. It’s been addressed and I can assure you it definitely will not happen again,” Oats said after the game, according to Alabama reporter Coley Harvey.
It’s worth noting that this is a routine that Miller and his teammate have participated in this intro routine throughout the entire season. But still, it’s fair to suggest that they should have altered it, given the situation and the controversy.
