Rupp Arena security nearly detained a Kentucky basketball fan for what’s surely an absurd reason.

The Wildcats sputtered and fell 71-68 to the woeful South Carolina Gamecocks Tuesday night, in the latest embarrassing loss for Kentucky and John Calipari this season. They have taken their lumps this year and have yet to score a quality win over a high-major program. They’ve lost to many though and have a date with No. 5 Tennessee this weekend, so it isn’t getting any easier.

A fan who attended the game on Tuesday night decided they wanted to troll Calipari. They had a sign on them in the building, which according to On3, read “Please go to Texas.”

Texas’ men’s basketball coaching job recently opened due to Chris Beard being fired after being charged with a felony family violence charge. So, many have tried connecting the Longhorns and Calipari together.

As it turned out, the security at the game didn’t take kindly to the sign. Security escorted the fan out of the arena, according to the article.

But more was threatened. Security nearly detained them, according to the fan.

Dylan Ballard tweeted, “I spoke with the person who held up the sign and here is his side of the story. Not a great look t come take it after he puts the sign up. Things are getting ugly in Lexington… (He also held up the other sign pictured, earlier this season).”

Via the tweet, the fan said, “At first the blue coat just told me to put it away, so I did. Then he came back up and said security was making him take it. I said I’d just leave instead. He still tried to take it. I said I’m not giving it to you, and got escorted. When I was walking up the stairs, I held it up and that’s when he physically grabbed me and yelled at me that I need to put it down or I’m going to be detained by security. Then I got escorted out by him, a higher security guy, and 2 officers.”

Not a great look at all for Kentucky, at all.
