Syracuse men’s basketball coach Jim Boheim already acknowledged he’s heard the chatter about him retiring at 78 after 47 seasons at the helm of Syracuse Orange basketball.
Boheim, following a win over the Boston College Eagles on Saturday night, told ESPN’s Pete Thamel that he would “probably” return next season, but he went on to call the current situation in college basketball an “awful place.”
He then went on to claim that the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Pittsburgh Panthers “bought their teams” before being forced to retract that statement.
The college basketball world was quick to react:

“This Jim Boeheim meltdown is getting sad. He flips out on student media once a week now. He’s out here saying stupid stuff like this. Time to look in the mirror, Jim,” advised Ben Stanfield.
“Has any winner been more of a loser than Jim Boeheim?” asked Ryan Dunleavy.
“Here is why Jim Boeheim is the last guy who should ever point a finger at another program. Ever. Ever, ever. But all the Syracuse journalist alum just smile, keep it moving and bow at his altar,” said Colin Dunlap.
Only time will tell if Boeheim will return to the sidelines next season.
