The shocking Alabama Crimson Tide story involving basketball star Darius Miles isn’t going away. After police testimony alleged on Tuesday that teammate Brandon Miller delivered the gun to Miles that was used for the capital murder charge he faces, head coach Nate Oats took to the podium. But Oats provided an answer that got a lot of negative brushback. Oats claimed the program knew about the situation, but also that Miller was in the “wrong place at the wrong time.” That comment received much of the brushback, including from Dick Vitale.

Vitale, the longtime ambassador and voice for college basketball, expressed great displeasure with Oats and the press conference he held. Vitale weighed in on the saga on his Twitter account on Wednesday.

Vitale exclaimed, “I was SHOCKED by the comments of @AlabamaMBB Nate Oats yesterday but I am doubly SHOCKED that superstar Brandon Miller is scheduled to play tonight. Isn’t providing a gun to a teammate that was used in a murder a serious offense?”

Vitale isn’t necessarily wrong to point out that Miller should probably be held out. Even if evidence doesn’t mount for him to be charged, this story isn’t going away any time soon. Alabama is the No. 1 team in the country and March Madness is around the corner.

With how they have handled things so far, Dick Vitale does bring up good points. You only wonder how they will handle things come tournament time.
