As the 2023 college basketball recruiting class comes to a close, Bronny James – the son of NBA superstar LeBron James – remains one of the top uncommitted prospects in the class. And he just got a major boost in his player ranking from one prominent recruiting service.

Previously, On3 Sports ranked Bronny James as the No. 28 overall player in the 2023 college basketball recruiting class. But that changed in their latest rating update as the high school star is now rated as the No. 9 overall player in the class.

“Bronny James is a sturdy guard, with a strong frame, long arms, and broad shoulders. The 6-2/6-3 guard is a noted defender at the point of attack. He moves his feet well laterally and plays with a chip on his shoulder,“ On3 wrote in his scouting report. “Offensively he does not really show blow-by burst in the half-court, but he attacks closeouts well, and he is strong in the paint. James is good in transition, has a little bit of wiggle there, and can get on the rim. He is explosive in straight lines. James needs to tighten his handle in space. One of his biggest areas of improvement is from three, where he has cleaned up his mechanics – especially the release – and gathered his balance.”

The basketball world had plenty to say about his new ranking.

Bronny James has yet to make a decision about where he will play college basketball, though he is expected to decide between the Ohio State Buckeyes, the USC Trojans and the Oregon Ducks in the coming weeks and months.
